Custody of Children:
 
Standard is joint managing conservatorship - child still lives with one parent and other parent has visitation and pays child support (note - this is for cooperative, mature parents).  Issue if contested is based upon "best interests of child".
 
Visitation:
 
Courts have standard guidelines: 
a)  1st, 3rd, 5th Fridays of each month from 6pm to Sunday at 6pm;
b)  30 days in summer (42 days if living over 100 miles apart);
c)  Alternating Spring Break, alternating Thanksgiving, and alternating times during
    Christmas period; and
d)  Thursday nights during regular school term 6pm to 8pm.
 
Child Support:

Wage Order/garnishment from employer for child support is required.  Health insurance for children provided by person paying child support is normally ordered to maintain insurance for children.  Each parent is normally ordered to pay 1/2 of uninsured health care expenses.

Debt division:
 
Secured debts (collateral involved) usually goes to party who receives the collateral.  Unsecured debts may be agreed by parties or ordered by court.  Debt division is not necessarily binding on creditor (if default in payment, creditor may take action against either party, if debt incurred during marriage).
 
Spousal support / alimony / maintenance:
 
Limited after-divorce maintenance support in Texas; Marriages over 10 years; One spouse earns substantially greater income than other spouse, who has no work skills or work history; and range is from 0% to 20% of net income to maximum of $2500 per month, maximum time is 3 years.
